“I don’t tell the race of the characters, I let the reader imagine them”. ~Adrienne Thompson I first met Ms. Thompson at The Turner Book Club Annual Authors Luncheon event, where she was a guest speaker. I made the comparison that Ms. Thompson is the Jill Scott of black authors because of her style. Her style of writing is on a sophisticated, deep emotional, make you think kind of vibe with that Dirty South mix of savageness and intelligence. Most of the settings in her novels are in the Dirty South, from the mean streets of Pine Bluff, Arkansas to Houston, Texas. In the literary world, I think that she is the “Queen of the South”.

Adrienne Thompson is the owner of Pink Cashmere Publishing, LLC. She has written over 18 books. To name a few: Better, Your Love Is King, and After the Pain. Ms. Thompson is also the true epitome of a strong black women. She had her first child at 16 and got married. By the time she was 24 she had three children and divorced. She still finished college and then nursing school. She worked as a nurse and wrote as a hobby until she took her destiny into her own hands. Now she is an accomplished writer, publisher, editor, and mother. Her teen daughter does all of the artwork for her novels and travels with her to promote her books. She has received numerous awards and recognition including the 2016 Reading Warrior Award. It is easy to say that her books leave me deeply satisfied.
